Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs Visited a Sapling of Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, Vajiradhammaram Temple, Ayutthaya.

20 December 2563/2020 in the morning, AYUTTHAY: Phra Sophonvachirabhorn (Sawai Chotiko), Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs, along with Director, MCU Sunday School, Director, International Relations Division, and staff of MCU to visit and pay respect a sapling of Sri Maha Bodhi Tree which brought from Sri Lanka to be planted on Tuesday, 19 February 2019, coinciding with Magha Puja day.

The sapling of Sri Maha Bodhi Tree presented by the Sri Lanka government to the Thai government as a gesture of goodwill on the occasion of the Royal Coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, Rama X, be planted Wat Vajiradhammaram in Maha Rat district, Ayutthaya province chaired by His Holiness Somdet Phrawannarat, Abbot of Wat Bowonniwesvihan, Bangko, and the committee of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand for the venerable and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-cha for the laymen at that time.

The ceremony of the Sapling of Sri Maha Bodhi Tree has been cooperated by Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs, Dhammaduta College and International Relations Division, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University with Thai Government and Sri Lankan Government as well.

The sapling of Sri Maha Bodhi, the Buddhist holy tree, comes from Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is said to be the Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.
